Nauvoo

On our move from WV to Missouri, we decided to take a 6 hour detour to Nauvoo. We were so very glad we did. What a gorgeous, spiritual, wonderful city. It was obviously off season so all the cute old grandparents just ate the kids up and gave them lots of attention.
Very very very very cold wagon ride. We asked them to turn back around halfway through. Very windy.

Ethan made a rope. He was literally jumping up and down and squealing. Cute boy.

So we stayed in the coolest place. It was this old cabin dating back to late 1800s that they fixed up and brought to Nauvoo. It was a very nice touch to complete the whole Nauvoo experience. And of course, Ethan just absolutely loved it.

The shoe store- we went here specifically for Eliza. She adores shoes.
Seventies Hall.
Carthage jail. That was my favorite place of all. We were the only ones there and goodness, the Spirit was incredible. I could tell Ethan felt it too and realized what a significant place and room he was standing in. It was a very cool thing to see as a parent. As we were listening to the recording about how Joseph died he listened intently. When the recording got to the part about the gunshot through the door, he looked at the bullet hole in the door and just stared for the longest time. I knew he felt something special. What a special moment for us as his parents.

Very random... but this was his 5th birthday cake. Cool huh? So so easy. He has been into astronauts and space for about 3 years now. He was thrilled to see the cake.

That is so neat that you could tell the Ethan felt the spirit. I just love the stories of Joseph Smith and all the other pioneers. You guys seem like you have had many adventures this past year, fun fun.
